A meeting will be held on Tuesday, 22 March, 2011 to discuss the setting up of a ‘Friends of West Barnes Library’ group. It will be held at the library, in Station Road, Motspur Park, starting at 7.15pm.
A community meeting was held at the library on Tuesday, 18 January, 2011, for residents to hear about and discuss proposals for its future.
If you are horrified by the prospect of further cuts or possible complete closure of West Barnes Library, here are some suggestions.
What can I do?
- If you are not already a member, join West Barnes Library, borrow a book, make regular visits and use its facilities
- Email or write to your local councillors
- Post a comment in the Your Views box on the right of this page
- Write a letter to Merton Council Cabinet member Martin Whelton about why you think the library should be saved – you can post it for free in the red letter box just inside the entrance to West Barnes Library
- Copy your letter to Cllr Gilli Lewis-Lavender at westbarnes@wimbledonconservatives.org, Cllr Iain Dysart at iain.dysart@merton.gov.uk and the Wimbledon Guardian newspaper at newsdesk@wimbledonguardian.co.uk
- Write to the other local newspapers
- Follow the campaign and show your support by ‘liking’ the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SaveWestBarnesLibrary
